Hi Lovies!

Today I have yet another lifestyle post about my 20’s! One thing that I learned about myself is that I absolutely love Self-Help books! Self-Help books helped me so much with self improvement thus far. Today I want to talk briefly about three self help books that I’ve read and enjoyed: The Happiness Project, The Secret and The Power of NOW. Hope you enjoy this post and if you decide to pick one up, make sure to add me on “the gram” @TheFashionCrazexo, take a photo of the book (of course) and tag me!

  • The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin

I first picked up this book after I went through a break up an ex boyfriend. No, it was not that I was completely unhappy nor depressed, but after that relationship ended I noticed that a lot of activities and time spent supported majority of my happiness. After that ended, I wanted to find a new happiness…joy, that no one can take away. After reading the first page in Barnes and Nobles, I just had to pick it up! The author Gretchen Rubin decided to devote a year to promote her happiness and documented it along the way. The book is split up to months and each month Rubin decided to focus on something specific. January focused on vitality, February focused on marriage and March focused on work. One of the best takeaways from this book is “An important aspect of happiness is managing your moods, and studies show that one of the best ways to lift your mood is to engineer an easy success, such as tackling a long-delayed chore. (pg 35)”. Definitely pick up this book guys!

  • The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

I picked up this book when I first started my online business www.ShopFashionCrazeBoutique.com . I was motivated more than ever, browsing the Self-Help section of Barnes and Nobles and I glanced through the pages of this book. The Power of Now solely focuses on being present at this present moment. The Power of Now includes ideas from Buddhism, Christianity, Taoism and other religions/practices to explain the authors point on ‘being-ness’. One of my favorite takeaways from this book (just one of many) is “You are not your mind”. Tolle explains that having control of your mind and thoughts are crucial. If you become a watcher of your thoughts instead of an identifier you won’t be able to elevate to a higher consciousness. This tip is one of thee most important tips from this book!

  • The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

“Be grateful for what you have now. As you begin to think about all the things in your life you are grateful for, you will be amazed at the never ending thoughts that come back to you of more things to be grateful for. You have to make a start, and then the law of attraction will receive those grateful thoughts and give you more just like them.”
― Rhonda Byrne, The Secret

One of my very close friends let me borrow this book and this is what started my whole “Self-Help book addiction” (lol)! The Secret by Rhonda Byrne is about the law of attraction. In case you aren’t aware of what that is here is a definition from SuccesConsciousness.com:”The law of attraction is the attractive, magnetic power of the Universe that draws similar energies together. It manifests through the power of creation, everywhere and in multiple ways. Even the law of gravity is part of the law of attraction. This law attracts thoughts, ideas, people, situations and circumstances.” Byrnes explains different ways and examples of how people attracted what they wanted by using the Law of Attraction. I do believe this up into a certain point, which is yes, there must be positive thoughts , but there also must be action. Although Byrnes talked very little about the action portion of attracting what you want and succeeding, she still made quite a few great points about life, gratitude and more!

Until Next Time…xoxo!
